Welcome to Studio 170 at Wychwood Barns! 
 
This large and bright unit is located on the 1st floor of the Wychwood Barns Community Cultural Hub, a well-established community space with over 15 years of engagement. The space is home to 26 artist live/work studios, 32 artist work studios, 9 non-profit arts and environmental organizations and a 7,680 square-foot event venue in Barn 2. 


Wychwood Barns is surrounded by a City of Toronto Public Park which contains several amenities, including a children’s playground, a large grass field which is home to a skating rink in the winter, a community garden, volleyball court and dog park.   

 

Studio 170 is a perfect fit for organizations involved in theatre, performing arts, community programming, administration, or hosting workshops or activities accommodating up to 70 people. Featuring semi-sprung floors, floor to ceiling windows, and direct access to a well-established arts community, the studio offers a flexible environment ready to support creative practice and public engagement. 

 

This space has been successfully operated as administration offices, visual arts studio, theatrical rehearsal space, television and radio recording studio, private events rental space, and for community programming. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS


Interested parties are asked to submit the following documents as part of their proposal:

  Completed Application Form  


2. Organization History (2 pages maximum)  

  • Mission statement 
  • A brief history of the organization including years of operation 
  • Why is the organization interested in space at Wychwood Barns? 
  • Describe the organization’s current programs and services 
  • How is the space going to be used? 
  • Please provide a description of program plans. 


3. Statement of Interest and Vision for the Space (4 pages maximum)  


4. Financial Capacity  

  • Please provide audited financial statements for 2 years and a current year internal financial statement 


5. Supporting Documents  

  • Biographies for key personnel 
  • List of Board of Directors

Wychwood Barns is introducing the Community Activations Program that invites artists, community, charity and non-profit groups to host free community-based events in our large Covered Street Barn space and Christie Courtyard – in the historic building now revitalized as a cultural hub. What We Offer A large open space in Toronto’s heritage building free of any venue rental cost Flexible hours between 9AM – 9PM Capacity to host up to 70 people Social media promotion and monthly calendar feature for your event Limited use of furniture; tables and chairs Support Staff and Audio/Visual Technician at discounted rates ( Union-Compliant – please read “Things to Consider” for more details ) Eligibility Requirements Must be a creative (artist or collective), non-profit organization or a charity group Must be free or pay-what-you-can donation type events only Event duration must fall within a 4 hour period on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday Event must be appropriate in a communal setting. Suitability for the space will be assessed by the Wychwood Barns team
